On birthday eves, I ritualize a goodbye for the past-year. I honor the person I was, feel into my lessons, the challenges and joys, and in the gentle review, ask myself what I need moving forward.
Spirit-words then dazzle into view.
Soul-whispered counsel appears in an enticing package of a word. A gifted word from an evolving higher heart stretches its wings and invites me to soar into the unfolding year with its particular medicine as my guide.
I meditate with the spirit-word. Let it bloom in between the sacred space between the breaths. The word takes me to the underworld of its definition and presses me forward into its light. I leave transformed from my yearly journey with it.
When I enter my twenty-fourth year, I yearn to better acquaint myself with my own joy, and so I choose SPARKLE because its spunky, playful, and confident. In flowing with sparkle I learn about courage, and so in unraveling into my twenty-fifth year, I choose courage to embolden my becoming.
Courage leads me to love.
Love lifts me to freedom.
Freedom teaches me to speak.
Speak reveals an ache for kindness.
Kindness changes my life like magic.
Magic reunites me with my own power.
And in my thirtieth year, in this significant, surreal and serious year, I choose magic as my spirit-word.
Magic empowers my humanity and cultivates a consciousness that pierces through illusions of separateness and returns me to the truth of our interconnectedness.
Magic energizes an embodied presence that emboldens me to meet, merge, move through this world with a compassionate and discerning heart.
Magic cackles that I already know all the spells.
To access my life-force and power-source, I breathe.
To ask a question, I redirect inward and sense the answer from an intelligent body designed to recognize and thrive in alignment and expansive opportunities.
To be brave, I stay rooted in my feet, continue to river breath-propel presence through my physical self, and trust that whatever the moment brings, I can respond and retain my energetic integrity.
Magic hovers palms over clean cups of water in whispered thanks, lights candles with intentionality and nourishes embodiment with barefoot moon-gazing and meditation in the company of pine trees.
In the crisp air of the here and now, I discover a fresh vitality and a relaxed strength that emerges and emanates from a body animated in presence and in a moment that is attended to, deeply and completely lived in.
And in the here and now, I rediscover that magic is aliveness, and experiencing my aliveness is the magic of this thirtieth year.
