The Starbucks baristas sing out-loud to “Hamilton.”
I join in.
In meditation, I drop into my womb, for insights from Her. The vision appears of a priestess dressed in robes of aqua blue. She sings, too. She walks through forests and fields and sings to the nature surrounding her, guiding her, reminding her of connection to all sentient things.
I hum on my out-breath, at 4am, under the last 2022 full moon, and this soft humming soothes my nervous system, frees my soul to nestle into the intelligent universe of my body.
The heart-wise caregiver sings to my 97-year-old grandfather. At times, he too spontaneously bursts into song. He’s an avid fan of “The Music Man,” Andrew Bocelli and Johnny Cash. While he naps, she and I passionately talk about women’s health, vitality and wellness. My heart sings. I notice this.
I notice that my heart sings when I gather with women, with mothers and soon-to-be mothers from across the world in a Holistic Pregnancy program. I get to witness and be witness with unconditional acceptance. This is potent medicine needed for the rebirth of the woman I am becoming.
The woman I am becoming notices that every time I make a decision that grants grace, that reroutes me back to embodied and energetic sovereignty, to take action on that whisper of NO (instead of trampling it with an over-ride), there’s an almost instant song of relief from a body releasing programming and coming home to optimal operating … of moving with spaciousness, ease, flow.
A life that sings. A life of rhythm, rhyme, melodious replenishment.
In the meditation, under the Cold Moon, the name of this last 2022 lunation, I am reminded that a woman’s reproductive system mirrors the structure of the throat. The two share a duet. Sexual life-force is our creative life-force, and expression is a natural and necessary part of creative expression. That passion for life must be felt, enjoyed, harnessed and then, sung out loud.
Like the baristas at Starbucks, who improvised and transformed their coffee bar into a stage.
Like the caregiver who floats the playfulness and joy of song through my grandfather’s days, and inspires him to lift up into the present and share his voice, too.
Like the woman I am this early morning at 5am … quietly humming under the dark sky and feeling light expand across my body as I sing myself home.
